Hey all, our little family just came back from Maine. The two younger boys have never been to Maine. John and I thought it was time that they did and it was time that they also had a trip to a real beach. John, LJ, Dean, my Mother and myself piled into my Mom's car and off we went to Cape Neddick. We stayed in a townhouse at the Countryview Motel. You can see my review of the motel on hubpages.com . We had a wonderful time. We arrived at the motel around 4:00 PM, Friday June 26th because I had to work that day. I helped my mom unpack while the boys introduced themselves to the townhouse. John took a shower, I took the boys to the pool and mom finished unpacking our food. Later, John and the boys watched TV while Mom and I had one of our intense Scrabble tournaments. Saturday was our fun day. First we took off to the Nubble. We took several pictures, but the boys made John and I nervous. They got way to close to the cliff. We then took off to see the wonderful houses and made our way along Long Sands to end up at Short Sands where the boys found it fun to play in the sand. I took the boys down to the waves. The three of us played in the water for a bit before taking off to investigate the rocks while John and Mom watched from the beach. After we got sick of the beach we took off to John's favorite past time - candy - we introduced all of them to the Goldenrod. One of Maine's famous candy stores. A long afternoon found us back at the townhouse where I took off to the upstairs balcony to do some much needed writing. John followed me up to watch some TV and relax while Mom and the boys were busy downstairs in the kitchen and living area. While trying to finish my writing, the manager had to remind me several times that the pool was at 75 degrees until I just could not take it anymore. Off went my computer and on went my bathing suit. It was not hard to convince the boys to follow me. The boys and I spent the next two hours in the pool while John watched us from the balcony and Mom joined us poolside. After Dean's teeth started to chatter, we decided that it was time for supper. Mom made potato salad and I made cheeseburgers. Later that night the boys fell asleep on the pull out couch in the living room watching a movie as Mom and I played Scrabble. John was watch a ball game upstairs. We were sadden to retire for the night as it was a wonderfully relaxing weekend and we knew that Sunday we needed to go back to NH. I knew I had to get up at 4:30 AM to start my work week, John knew he would be home with the boys and Mom knew she had to return to work as well. Sunday we relaxed for a few hours then packed the car. It poured which made it easier to leave. The boys were very well behaved and as we left we promised the Manager that I would write a review of the motel and that we would return as soon as we could. My father did not accompany us on this trip, however, we plan to go back to Maine soon the four of us along with my Dad this time.
